There was one reason, I was blissful and so please with how things were with my current living situation.

We were lucky to have an amazing home, the perfect car for the family and some parts of our life were certainly better than most people get to enjoy.

I sat down and though about if I would miss having my good friends easily available and being able to visit at virtually any time it suited my schedule There was so much to miss too like bacon butties in the morning, an English breakfast with all the trimmings, the barber who I always gave a tip to when I visited and even the milkman who delivered my milk every week.

I couldn't use these little things though as excuses too much longer because though they will always have a special place in my heart and with the US office market being so favourable currently that we had to move the business over and take advantage of what was out there. I let my family know that we had come to a decision to move to the US, otherwise we would be letting emotions getting in the way we couldn't let nostalgia get in the way of the business growth.

I had to make sure that the move was very smooth to help the children cope, I made sure that the school understood that they were moving from a home where they were very comfortable and would need some time to feel happy other children. We had to make some stark choices and they weren't easy but we had to get the children to understand why we were moving.

The move has been and gone and I have to say that it has been a wonderful transition for us, we now love living here. So here's a few of my favourite things about living in the US.

1) The food is wonderful here. I did say before that I thought I would miss English food, I cannot believe how good the food is here, you really need to experience it for yourself. I now get to eat in world famous restaurants with service that makes you feel like royalty and cannot compare to the service and food I got in England.

2) The offices are plush. We decided in the end to take Chicago office space and we are delighted with the result. Important facilities are now under one roof such as conference rooms, a huge parking lot and a beautiful meeting room that make it easy to communicate with clients.

3) You get treated better by people. Though we are an English family, that are a novelty to some people here, where we live we get treated with a higher level of respect and everyone seems to want to do their utmost to help us. Shopping here is a real treat with people helping you out as much as they can, regardless of whether your are spending big or just browsing.

That was just a small insight into the reasons why making the drastic move to the US has been incredible and now our lifestyle is even better.
